Behavioral Health Billing
« on: October 05, 2011, 05:19:13 PM »
Hello,

Is billing for a visit - Code 90806. or the different levels of it- still a place of 3 and type 1?  I used to bill for cardiologists and haven't been in the loop for almost 3 years now and may be doing some Behavior Health Billing soon.    I  am pretty sure this is correct, however because it's not billing for a M.D., just wanted to make sure.

Thank you.

Wow, that brings back memories!  The place of service code 3 for office was used in the 90's.  They switched over to place of service 11 for office several years back.  And type of service codes are no longer used on the CMS 1500 (HCFA) forms.  They would be the same for a therapist (90806) as they would for an MD.

yes it would be 11.   Are you billing this for psychiatrist or psychologist?
