: Potential Client

I am speaking with a potential client tomorrow morning who is currently practicing in a different state.  She is a nutritional counselor and diabetic educator.  She is part time and wants to know what I charge especially since she will not have very many claims going out per month.  I am very nervous and wanted to know if anyone has any insight or points to give me when working with clients not in the same state and what questions I need to make sure I ask.  I want to make sure it is a brief phone call for her but effective at the same time.

Thanks.

Do you have other clients?  How are you charging them?  I would ask her:

Also ask how much she charges on average per visit and what is the average reimbursement?  What will you be doing, strictly billing?  Verifying benefits?

Once you know these things it will be easier to come up with a fee.  You should consider that you need a minimum though to make it worth it.  If you are just starting out the experience will be very helpful so you may not need the same minimum you might require if you were not just getting started.

Good luck!
