L codes
« on: June 01, 2009, 06:23:26 PM »
Michele,
Can you tell me when using S codes and L codes do you file this separate from the orignal medical claim and send it to DMERS.
so if a patient saw a doctor for a visit you would send that claim out and if they need DME you would send this out separately am I right
so I would be sending out two claims one to ins. co and other to DMERS is this correct?

Yes, if you are billing Medicare for office visit charges and durable medical equipment then you would file the office visit to the medicare part b carrier and the DME to the DME carrier for the region the provider is in.

Most commercial carriers handle the DME along with the other charges in the same manner so it wouldn't be necessary to send 2 separate claims.
