Nearly all my clients have a need to watch their panels and payments very carefully so GOOD reports for me is a MUST!  Starting out with a free system does have it's perks in the beginning on a tight budget, but you have to have your future goals in front of you to really make a good informed decision that you can Grow WITH. Data conversions are pricey and complex.. Most software's are so proprietary and extracting data from them can be a real nightmare. Make sure you look at the future goals of your business and not just the here and now. Looking back there are so many things I did to try and save a buck and in the long run it cost me more in time and money. Remember you get what you pay for!

This is soo true.  I am torn with just using my Office Ally and going with Kareo.  I don't want to pay for something that I am not using but I would like to be trained on the system and fully knowledgeable on my software system.  Kareao charges $1500 for data conversions straight off the bat, sigh.  We shal see.  I will definetly be including the per provider fee in my flat fee pricing to cover.  I remenber reading a thread about how the provider wasn't sending any billing over to the biller (for about 2 months I think) and I am sure the biller still had to pay for the system that it was using.

Queen, there is nothing wrong with doing a Data Conversion. Even if you choose Kareo, who is to say you will be with that system for the duration?? We are on our 2nd conversion with a DME company that I bill for. They went from the TDME dos program to the TDME windows based, but we are going to convert to Brightrree soon. Its a part of the process. Which makes more sense a year of free and convert after you get 5 providers, or a year of $200 a month with no providers, or maybe just 1-2 providers?

I agree, I want to be able to stay in operation.  I just need to schedule my office ally training and learn the ropes.  1 thing at a time.

The Office Ally training will be fine!  It is not difficult at all and they are good about walking you thru it.

The practice I worked for changed software 3 times!  You can do it!  Sometimes doing the data conversion helps you to better understand the softwares inner workings!

Yeah it sucks, but sometimes it just has to be done. We kept TDME dos just for old balances since they couldn't convert those over (uugh). So for a while I had to work out of 2 systems. In some cases you just work your receivables off an aging report...ish happens gotta adapt!

I'm a sick individual, but I kind of liked working off a report, especially when the accounts would clean up and drop off.  My current software has a claims filing cabinet that I look at daily so I can see what's hanging out there and what needs to be done to clear it off.

I agree sometimes you have to bite the bullet and dive in.  As someone though who has gone through 4 conversions, I can honestly say it's NOT worth the cost more than once, If I had it to do all over again I still say I would have taken better care of selecting a software for longer term use and growth, certainly it would have saved me a lot of time and money. Conversions are NEVER 100% and anyone who says they are is lying. They are cumbersome and the success of the conversion is STRONGLY relied upon the data BEING CONVERTED. There are a few really well-known software's out there that do NOT play well with others.

I finally chose Total MD. I wish I had chose them from the begining. I love the system!! I so much wish I would have been told about them when I started out. They do not charge by provider for the web based. They charge per user, which is perfect, in my opinion. And now I finally have awesome reports. It has been a blessing for me, I had medisoft, healthfusion, and mpm soft in the past as my pm systems. Do not, I repeat, do not do mpm soft. You will regret it. What a horrible experence. The customer service is the worst, and there is always something wrong. Good luck on choosing the right one. I am finally happy with Total Md, and am finally settled!

I am looking for a software that is not expensive, and has the option to print reports too. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know some providers use web based programs, but I want sonething for those other providers. Any suggestions are very much welcome. Thank you in advance for any help I can get.

There are tons of softwares out there and they range from several hundred to tens of thousands of dollars.  Your post is too vague to really make any suggestions.  It depends on if you are a billing service, or a provider.  What type of specialties will you be billing?  How big do you plan on getting?  Etc.

Does anyone tried Sage Intergy? I heard it's a good software but a bit pricey.
