Billing for family session
« on: December 05, 2012, 02:22:30 PM »
I have three daughters and one mother who come to our office and see different counselors.  Occasionally they do a family session.  How do I bill for these family sessions when each of the individual clients counselors are also in the session.  Do I bill for each client, under the counselor, or do I just bill one family session and which client do I bill this under?

Thanks!

Michele

That is a new one for me!  I am not sure.  I do not believe you can bill for a family session under each counselor.  Maybe you should check with the insurance carrier to see how they would like it.

I know you won't receive payment for all three. My guess is they are only going to cover one family session per counselor but I too would contact the carrier and get specific information and authorization if needed.
