office alley
« on: August 07, 2008, 06:29:00 PM »
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone is using office alley as their clearinghouse?
Also they have a free web based software you can use called Practise Mate,
is anyone using this program, and how does it work for them?
I just finished a medical billing course and will soon be searching for my first client.
Thanks Margie ???

Hi Margie,

I've heard of Office Ally but I've never used it myself.  And all I've heard is that it is out there.  I'm hoping some of our other members have actually used it and will respond with their experiences.

Good luck in getting started!  :)

I am a user of both Practice Mate & Office Ally for almost a year now and have no complaints. My first client was a very small office, and this was a perfect solution since I didn't have to worry about a minimum cost for software. For a large practice, it may be too time consuming to be worth the free aspect. I guess it depends on your client. As far as their customer service goes, I have always gotten the help I needed.

Also, you can use Office Ally as a clearinghouse with alot of softwares if you choose not to use Practice Mate. This will keep your overhead cost low too.

Thank you for all your help.
Can you tell me if you are you still using practise mate at this time?
In what way would you say it is time consuming as opposed to say Medisoft?

Hi Lori,
As far as I know, because I am getting ready to open my own service at home, I checked out SynaMed and they are not a clearinghouse
they work with one as far as I can understand. Officeally is a clearinghouse and you can also use there practicemate software for free.
Each one of these companies has support phone numbers you can contact them and ask question, they are very helpful.

hello,
I'm currently using Office Ally and Practice Mate, does anybody know how to set up a due date on the billing statement. I generate the billing statements but the due date is not showing on them. Does anyone know how I can set that up.
Thank you

You could add it in the comments section on the statement. However, I don't think there is a place designed specifically for a due date - probably because the majority of statements are due upon receipt. JMO.

IF there is an option it should be under "terms". This is the downside to free software, you get what you pay for, any program that puts out invoices or statements should have an area with option to add terms, many doctors add finance charges or late charges after due date so it only makes sense you would need that option to calculate late fees or finance charges.

We use E MED Pro clearinghouse edition, which has a clearinghouse included in it.  It is expensive, but has DME capabilities, Medical, Chiropractic, Dental all built in. Very easy to use and navigate through. It is not web based though.  It has specific edits for each major insurance groups. BCBS, NEIC, and Medicare. Guarantee's 98% error free claims as far as the carriers requirements are concerned. No additional clearing house fees other than the annual software update charge.  They can write specific edits for your special needs. We are not a sales outlet for them, just one of their clients. We bought on the recommendation of one of their original beta testers that has been using them for 7 or 8 years. We downloaded a full copy of the software and "test drove" it for two weeks before buying it. Have been very satisfied with it.
