I have a question ....can a dentist bill me for work done on my adult daughter? shes on my insurance shes 23 ..I did not sign anything saying I'm responsible for her medical bills...apparently she chose not to pay this dentist (work done a few months ago I guess) I just received a bill for it and its stating that I was the patient,,,Is that even legal??

If you were not the one who had the work done, and the patient was over 18 I do not believe you have any liability.  Contact the dentist and advise them you were not the patient and you are not responsible.

I contacted the dentist ...I was told she's under my insurance so I'm the guarantor...I said yes she's under my insurance but she's over 18 now and anything that the insurance doesn't cover she's responsible for not me..I asked why it stated I was the patient on the bill my daughters name was no where on the bill ..she pretty much said nope,no ,it doesn't say that ...well I'm looking at the fricken bill! Anyways she said that they will just send it to collections ...which still shouldn't affect me but she sure made it sound that it would

I've got two daughters ages 24 and 25 and Have same thing happen all the time. I call up the provider and give them my daughters address and tell them to please remove me as the "guarantor" If your child is over 18, they realy have to and in fact there could be a privacy issue if your name is on there instead of your childs and itemized bills are being sent out. I'd alert them to that fact as well. <g>
