Pros and Cons of Lytec
« on: August 18, 2012, 01:33:57 AM »
What would you say the pros and cons are for this particular software?  Any info is much appreciated, but some particular areas of interest are the following.  How are the statements?  Are they easy to understand or are they confusing?  (I want to reduce phone calls)  Are there a lot of hidden costs such as frequent upgrades or modules for different types of billing etc?  Does it only support the CMS1500 or does it support the UB04 (if so does it cost additional money)?

A little bit of background.  I am a billing service looking to grow.  I currently use Medisoft.  The statements are my biggest issue with Medisoft.  Who knows maybe I enter the information "wrong" according to the way the software is designed.  Any thoughts?

We have used Lytec since 1994.  Definitely has both pros and cons but overall I am happy with it.  I am familiar with Medisoft and I don't really care for it.  To me the Lytec is much more user friendly and has more capabilities.  Personally I have always been able to get the Lytec to do whatever we needed it to do.  I find it easy to train others on how to use it.  It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as some more complex programs, but as a biller, I don't need all of those.

Hope that helps.

I have used Medisoft and Lytec and they are just different.  I personally would stay away from both just because McKesson owns both and they are doing some crazy things.  Lytec is also quite a bit more expensive than Medisoft.  Medisoft Advanced for a single user is $1300 and Lytec Pro for a single user is a little over $4800.  I thought both programs were good in certain areas but I personally wouldn't recommend either.  If you want to stick with a non web based program then you should probably look at TotalMD.  They are the only ones that I know of that offer a complete data conversion from Medisoft and they do it for free.  That way you don't lose any of your data.  On top of that, the pricing is very affordable and it is very easy to use.  You should definitely check them out.  If you have checked them out and don't like them then I would say Lytec is probably your next best option.
