multiple charges
« on: January 12, 2010, 01:58:00 PM »
I have a encounter form with dates of service from the 16th to the 1st. Can I split this up and make 2 seperate claims for all the procedures or can I just add each unit for the code such as 99223- 5 units and put the date range as the 09162009-10012009?

There was a blurb in BC Advantage last month regarding this exact thing.  And they said the same thing I will say here - you stand a better chance of getting the services paid if you split each visit out on a separate line.  Many insurance carriers do not process them correctly when you will them with a unit greater than 1.  Seems like it should work, but it doesn't.  JMO

You will want to bill a separate line for each date of service.  It will take a few cms forms since you can only fit 6 lines on a claim.

I would put the admission date thru the discharge date (if discharged) on each claim.
