Mental Health Group Practice
« on: March 20, 2009, 08:52:24 AM »
We're a start-up mental health group practice (Ph.D's and C.S.W.'s).  We have an NPI number and a tax ID for the group.  We're not seeking enrollment within insurance panels but, wondering  can we, in fact, bill under the group name, tax ID, and NPI for all providers in the group?  Who signs the form?  Would we be considered a facility and need to use facility billing?

You would not be considered a facility.  There is a place on the CMS form to indicate the NPI number of the rendering provider and the NPI for the billing provider.  You will enter the individual NPI for the therapist providing the service as the rendering provider and the group NPI for the billing NPI.
