Can anyone give me tips on how to bill medical supplies for private insurances? We are a Home Health Agency and it is mainly for wound care.

u have to use the appropriate hcpcs code for it, and you should determine coverage first.
what type of dme are u billing. wound care (dressings, resevoirs, suctions etc?)

yes it dressings, saline etc. Ok so for example if I need to bill lets say for 4x4 Gauze but for 24 visits. Do I put the HCPCS code and then the amount for the whole 24 days together in one lump sum? What about Units? Would it be 24? ???

ok, im not an expert in home health billing, but i believe you would bill the date span (09/01/09-09/25/09) and use the app hcpcs (A6219) and use the units would be 24. If the cost is .14cents then it would be a charge of 3.36. If I am not mistaken you won't need the NU mod on the commercial payors. please feel free to email me if you need to. I can give you some links to sites that would help. As stated I don't do home health, but I do do DME-custom rehab.

dates and codes are just examples.
