New to billing
« on: October 14, 2013, 08:05:10 PM »
Hi, Im new to billing and need help with selecting a billing software. I have looked into some of the software available but not sure which would be a good fit for our business.ie Office Ally, TotalMD. but our payer sent us an EDI package from RelayHealth, so I am assuming that is who they are using as their clearinghouse and TotalMd can not submit to them.

In the EDI package it requires a 837p or 837i format in 5010 thru a FTP with PGP encryption. I have WinSCP as the FTP and a PGP program. I think the only think I still need is a program to convert my members data in a 837 format. I am on the EZclaim  software trial which does this in 837p but not 837i. as I would like one that does both but is still affordable.

Does Medisoft work like EZclaim or TotalMD. any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I think you should call a bigger clearinghouse or two (like Gateway, Office Ally or Emdeon) and see if they can send to them.  Then I would just find a software that can do institutional claims and professional claims and can send to that clearinghouse.  I know TotalMD does both and they send to those clearinghouses.  If you really have to use RelayHealth then talk to CollaborateMD.  I'm not sure if they do institutional billing but they are connected to only one clearinghouse but I'm pretty sure it is RelayHealth.  If you want a server based version (CollaborateMD is cloud based) then Medisoft and Lytec can also use RelayHealth because they are both owned by McKesson and RelayHealth is owned by McKesson as well.

I hope that helps.
