Billers per Provider
« on: July 22, 2013, 10:11:56 AM »
Have seen a couple of targets: 1 biller/5,600 claims and 1 biller per two providers. Realize this will also depend on specialty, however, looking for averages and how you base your staffing ratio if the majority of the functions are automated in the practice management system. Biller responsible from charge entry to final resolution.

Also, by what percent will this decrease with electronic health records installation. Thank you!

I would be curious if someone came up with an answer for you that was supported by facts. This is not a data entry business. I cannot begin to tell you the time that it takes for people intervention (followup etc) rather than the automation process.
Some providers require more hand holding than others. Just so much more to factor in than the automation of the process.

Have to agree with Merry on this one. I'd recommend if hiring staff/employee's you do full time analysis. You'll need to really evaluate each employee and their time.  If you are just starting out and don't yet have clients, I wouldn't worry about hiring employees just yet. I always tell people not to put the cart before the horse.
