code 99214

Hi Michelle.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your help.  I have a better understanding about the way certain codes work because of this website.

Now,  is it true that we will get paid using  modifier  25 on E & M code 99214 when we are also billing a 98941 on the same visit?

Thanks,  Cathy

Michele

We love to hear that you have found our information helpful.  That is exactly why we started this site.  We didn't have any resources when we started and we love to be able to help others.

Possibly, it depends on the provider (I'm assuming it's a chiropractor) and the insurance carrier.  Medicare doesn't allow DC's to bill E&M codes so it wouldn't help.  If the insurance carrier will pay a DC for both the manip & the E&M then yes, the 25 modifier would help.
