STOP THE OFFSHORE BS
« on: January 16, 2013, 06:42:59 PM »
I realize I can't control who posts, who does what..  But I am going to make a statement.  When I started PMRNC I made a promise I expect to keep until the day I shut my doors.    "I WILL Not work with, endorse, advertise, advocate, or HELP any offshore entity in ANY capacity."     I'm expanding that statement to all the professional forums I participate in.     I love my country and there is just SO much wrong with offshore outsourcing it would take a day to explain.  I will NOT help anyone HERE or anywhere else that participates or takes part in ANY way with offshore companies.     We have Associations in our industry even that are promoting offshore companies.. I will NOT.. not now, not ever.    LOOK at the associations you are with.. FIND out if they are helping offshore companies!  This is YOUR industry as well as mine. GET ANGRY and Stand up WITH me.

I have a unique relationship with some of my clients and i've had requests to outsource pieces of our service in order to reduce costs.  I replied "no" and gave several examples why.  Aside from the "buy american" argument it is plain and simple that outsourcing leads to lesser service.

Take Dell for example.  Dell computers was a leader in PC making.  I have used them for many years.  You could build a computer online.. order 10 of them and have them in a couple days.  Then they outsourced the production to Mexico and now the lead time for custom systems is 2 - 3 weeks.  At the same time they outsourced their first level support to Asia.  It got so bad that... (no I am not making this up) they started offering a North American support option at a premium price.

Thankfully, it seems that this topic is coming full circle and you here more and more stories like Dell.  I don't think outsourcing services has the glamour that it used to have.

I know one of my competitors (I won't say their name) but a really large DME Billing Service has been telling their clients they are looking into outsourcing to India.

I'll just wait... continuing hiring great local people... providing them with fantastic benefits and treating them right... then pick up all the new business that comes from poor decisions like that.
