: What is a good copies for billing business?
: Charlesg September 01, 2011, 01:05:24 PM
I am in the process of selecting a printer for my business, can anyone suggest  the best printer for our business. I am thinking of buying a copy, printer, fax, scanner all in one machine.

You should also price renting the equipment.  Depending on your needs it may be more cost efficient.  You can rent equipment with more features than you can afford to buy in some instances.  Make sure you consider cost of ink, etc.  We ended up renting and we are very pleased.  We are now considering buying because our needs have grown since we first rented, but renting allowed us to have access to a better machine before we were ready to buy.

Other than that, I don't have any recommendations on brand/model.

JMO. We have a chiropractic practice.  We bought a Brother MFC-7840W printer/scanner/fax/copier for $250.00 and it's perfect for us.  The toner runs around $50 if you shop it right and you get around 3500 pages per cartridge. The drum gets replaces every 8 toners and it runs around $100.  (there's a way to fool the machine so you get WAY more copies)  We do all our billing, statements, record copies etc. with it.  It also has a fax receive program that allows you to preview faxes when they come in and print them or not.  That way you save on ink and paper by not printing junk faxes or you can just move the document to the appropriate file after reading it.  The scanning feature allows you to scan insurance cards or records and move them to the files in other programs.

This has been a great machine for us, but it will depend on the number of pages you produce.  Renting machines is a great option especially if they include all the supplies and the price per page isn't too high.  Just factor in ALL your business machines and how much actually gets printed!  Billing is mostly electronic now, so it's patient statements and copies of EOB's (if you're not storing them electronically).

Hope that product review is helpful!
