: Teaching Anesthesiologist

Beginning January 2010 teaching anesthesiologist will get full Medicare payment to oversee anesthesiology residents on overlapping cases.  Does anyone know how we would bill for them then, with an AA modifier for the teaching anesthesiologist?  Or would the resident get a modifier like the CRNA does? ???

Anesthesia Modifiers and their Definitions
QX - CRNA Service: with medical direction

QZ - CRNA Service: without medical direction

QY - medical direction of one CRNA by an anesthesiologist

QK - medical direction of 2, 3 or 4 concurrent anesthesia procedures

AA - anesthesia services performed personally by anesthesiologist

It appears the QX may be more appropriate.
