UMR
« on: June 03, 2014, 07:50:05 PM »
Hello Everyone- Perhaps some of the more learned members here can help me with a major headache. I've spent 6+ hours on the phone trying to talk to a live human being from UMR insurance (a division of United healthcare) about 2 things:

1. UMR insurance's electronic payer ID# or where to send claims
2. How find why a claim was not paid, or why it was underpaid.

UMR's beloved automated phone system will not allow one to speak with a live human being (unless they are from India of course), and all these people are allowed to do is connect me with the automated system, and the loop starts over. Availity does not have info for UMR, and UMR only keeps users in they're automated phone system. I have a provider who want's answers...NOW, and I don't have any to give him. Any help would be deeply apperciated. >:(

1. UMR insurance's electronic payer ID# or where to send claims

You can get that information from the patient's insurance card.  There is usually more than one addresses where claims should be sent.  I know of three addresses, but I don't know if any of the three are valid for your patient(s).  I also have a number of different phone numbers, but don't know if any of them would have info on your patient(s).

Google on [ UMR + "claims mailing address" ].  You will get this page:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=umr+claims+mailing+address

And these:

http://www.mchcp.org/publicEntity/contacts/contactUMR.asp

http://gethuman.com/phone-number/UMR-Health-Benefits/
http://gethuman.com/contact/UMR-Health-Benefits/

There are others, but these should get you started.  Don't know which link will give you what you want - but the second link has an EDI Payer #.

I have 2 separate addresses and Payor ID#s for UMR.  Are you using UMR from Ohio or Utah?

Hah, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has to deal with the robots all the time. For UMR I eventually realized it's easier to simply register on their website and look up claim status and remittance that way. This is the website:

https://provider.umr.com/tpa-ap-web/

Payer ID we have on file is 39026 for UMR in Salt Lake City, UT and 79480 for UMR in Onalaska, WI. UnitedHealthCare is based in Salt Lake City so we send most of our UMR claims there because it's a UnitedHealthCare affiliated company. I'm not really sure why we have the other one on file.
