New DC looking for Billing Agency
« on: December 23, 2014, 09:43:18 PM »
I am a chiropractor in South Dakota and have been in business for 1 year. I am the only one working at my clinic and tried to do everything myself. I bought ChiroTouch but bit off a bit more than I could chew. I just don't have the time to deal with all the insurance denials and such. I am looking for a billing agency that would be easy to use with ChiroTouch to do all my billing/credentialing and I am just looking for any info with billing agencies or direction. I know CTProBill will not help out with coding and all that stuff if the claim is denied.  Looking for an agency that will help out with billing/credentialing the whole works.

Thanks

Hi, 23DC-

While I can't help you with your billing needs as I don't bill chiro, I do know that you will need someone who has expertise in this area, as well as in credentialing. Between the authorizations, benefits and eligibility, therapy caps, medical necessity/LCD's, etc, things can get tricky. It is a matter not so much of the actual billing/coding being difficult, as it is dealing with the various insurance companies and what the patient's benefits are, and all that they require with chiro billing.

There are several posters here who have established, reputable billing companies/services, and maybe someone will be able to take you as a client. Because you have been in business for one year, in my honest opinion, you really want to go with someone who knows chiro billing/credentialing(not an easy task) like the back of their hand, as opposed to someone who is looking for their first client for their new billing company, unless that someone has a VERY thorough knowledge of chiro billing/credentialing from past experience.

While I am all for new companies getting their first clients, you don't need a "newbie" leading a "newbie" in this situation, you need an experienced biller/billing company. Too much is at stake for you and your practice to try and hire someone who is willing to bill at a cheaper price, but really doesn't know "the ropes" of chiro/credentialing. Because you have ChiroTouch software in place, whoever you hire should be willing to learn and use that software if they don't know it already.

Also, on a side note, as soon as you are able to, hire someone with good medical office experience to be your receptionist/assistant/office manager. You say you are the only one working at your clinic...and believe me, patients notice that, and not often in a positive way. While initially it may be rough financially to have to pay an employee's salary, it will pay off in spades down the road, especially if you vet and hire the right person for the job. You will have more time for your patients and more time for a personal life, and it will benefit the practice in the long run.

If I didn't already have a lot on my plate I'd be perfect for you, I've been billing for 5 chiropractors for 2 years and I do all the credentialing. I believe Linda does a lot of chiro billing and she knows credentialing well. How many claims per month do you send out?

I would say I send out roughly 100-150 claims per month. General mix of Major Medical insurers and Medicare.

Did you find a billing agency you were looking for?

I understand how tough it is to analyze though your private messages when you already have a lot on your plate and come up with a better one where every message you see promises to be the best at what you want.

Kristin wrote a very good post.
Chiro Billing is not for the novices; most billing companies are not taking them as clients, we can help in selected cases.

You also want someone who knows Chiro Touch.

FWIW it is worth Chiro Touch also does billing at 8% and $500 minimum per month.
