: Modifier FX for x-rays taken using film
: newbie54 January 28, 2017, 01:51:09 PM
Starting January 1, 2017 Medicare requires the "FX" modifier used whenever x-rays are taken using film instead of digital radiography so they can penalize the doctor with a 20% reduction in reimbursement. Does anyone know if this holds true for the Medicare Advantage plans such as Humana and Anthem? Do we have to use the FX modifier on claims to those companies as well?

I am not 100% sure but I believe so.  I tried to find documentation but wasn't able to.

Thanks. I am trying to find documentation as well but have been unable to. I may try to reach out to the insurance companies but you know what a time consuming task that can be to try to find the right individual who has the correct information. If anyone else finds out anything please post here and I will do the same.
