Surgeons office bill for injectable?
« on: April 17, 2009, 01:13:41 PM »
I work for a Vascular Surgeon and he uses an injectable for varicose vein treatment.  Are there codes to bill on a CMS1500 for this solution?  He uses Polidocanol 5%.  Thanks for your help.  Nancy O.

Hi, yes, we bill for 36470 or 36471 however, recently we received a newsletter that indicated that a sclerotherapy injectable solution could be billed for in addition to the above codes.

Sorry, you are looking for the HCPCS code for Polidocanol 5%.  I would try S2202.  Some insurance carriers may pay it separate, some may bundle it.

Hope that helps a little better!   :-[
