For all my DME billers or those interested in billing, I give you this piece of advice. Please learn your LCD (Local Coverage Determination). This will aid you in keeping your denials down. If you work for a DME provider, you should be aware prior to dispensing equipment if the patients dx meets the criteria. Medicare will downcode a high profile cushion to a basic cushion if the client does not meet that criteria and it can be a huge loss of revenue.
