Urgent Help....! NPI and Taxonomy not match.

(1/1)

Lakewood:
Hi all,

May I ask Any one who do the billing for non skill service like "Personal assistant services". I got the problem to do this billing when summit a claim and this is my first claim. It said "Invalid NPI & Taxonomy" combination. I also check with web www.hipaaspace.com and also hhtps://nppes.cms.hhs.gov it said my NPI and this Taxonomy (251E00000X) is exactly on file. Any one know what's wrong with this...? and if it's wrong who I need to correct this Taxonomy number.

Also I got advise I need to have API number for this billing, some one said I don't need to...! What is the API meant & where I can apply that number from..?

Thank you very much

Question: What software are you using?

Merry:
I am curious as to what insurance you are billing to that covers this service?
I don't know what insurance company would cover a personal assistant as it is non skilled and this code is for a skilled agency. I do understand that there are cases where Medicaid may cover for this service when a person is disabled and requires care. Just a bit confused.

When I looked this up, this is what I found.
251E00000X - A public agency or private organization, or a subdivision of such an agency or organization, that is primarily engaged in providing skilled nursing services and other therapeutic services, such as physical therapy, speech-language pathology services, or occupational therapy, medical social services, and home health aide services. It has policies established by a professional group associated with the agency or organization (including at least one physician and one registered nurse) to govern the services and provides for supervision of such services by a physician or a registered nurse; maintains clinical records on all patients; is licensed in accordance with State or local law or is approved by the State or local licensing agency as meeting the licensing standards, where applicable; and meets other conditions found by the Secretary of Health and Human Services to be necessary for health and safety.
