: Hydration with Chemotherapy
: Yesica December 08, 2009, 03:38:09 PM
Hello Everybody, :)

I have a question regarding Hydration running at the same time with Chemotherapy but in two different bags. Here is my scenario.
if Hydration starts at 9:30am and it ends at 2pm but we got chemo running from 9:30pm to 1pm. Im aware that we cant bill hydration when chemo is running even though they are in two seperate bags. But can I bill one hour of hydration because there was no infusion going on from 1pm to 2pm. Can any one refer me to any CPT guidelines or website where I can find information about this.

Thanks,
Yesica.

I am not familiar with chemotherapy billing, but I would think you could bill for the hour that the hydration is being done separately.  However, I am thinking you may need to bill the hydration for the entire time, knowing they will not pay the time that coincides with the chemo.  I tried to research it but wasn't able to find any info.

Sorry  :(

Yes, you should be able to bill for the additional hour of hydration when no chemo was administered.  I am unable to send the attachment of documentation but Michelle is correct bill the entire amount but you will only get considered on the hour of hydration
