: ASC facility Charge
: merdad55 December 31, 2011, 09:25:18 PM
A medical facility is suing me for medical bill for a surgical procedure which was not pre-approved or not even mentioned in surgery operative report for $20,000! they now saying it is for facility fees! obviously a 1.5 hour endodontic back surgery- no over night stay or any special treatment- should not cost $20,000! does anyone know any expert witness to provide me with expert opinon for reasonable charges for such ambulatory outpatient surgery! I live in Jersey City, NJ close to NYC! any help appreciated!
thanks

The facility fees are never in the operative report because they are separate and billed in addition to any surgical fees. My dad was in the hospital for Knee surgery, further south in NJ also not overnight and his facility bill was over 25K, yes the closer you are to the city the higher the bill sometimes..   Have you looked into hiring a hospital auditor? My dad has insurance so they have their own auditors. Have you tried simply getting them to lower the bill and negotiation a payment plan? There's no question that hospital's inflate their charges big time.
