Facility name error in billing
« on: September 30, 2008, 02:07:04 PM »
Hi fellas!!!

I have a question....

I do billing for a physician, he's had a patient at hospital for over 2 months now. When the patient first entered in the system It was entered under the wrong facility name and admission date. The payor (Medicare) has paid without any problems at all, I guess they haven't notice about this misunderstanding.... WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND ME TO DO? SHOULD I CHANGE THE INFORMATION FOR THE RIGHT ONE OR LEAVE IT JUST LIKE THAT UNTIL THE PATIENT LEAVES THE HOSPITAL??

Help me please!!!!

Thank you

Michele

I would change the information to indicate the correct facility and note the patient's file as to what happened.  Bill out all future charges with the correct facility.  If the facilities are in the same area, then reimbursement should not be affected.  I wouldn't rebill the already paid charges.
