Getting reimbursed for "phone" visits
« on: August 10, 2010, 06:57:52 PM »
My providers are asking me to research if insurance companies are reimbursing for the physicians time for "phone" visits using 98966-98968.  One of the providers works for another practice also, and she is certain they are paid for them.  I have always understood that you can certainly bill for your services, but the likelihood of being paid for them is slim to none.  Has anyone been reimbursed for this service?  And if so, what was the fee that was charged?

Also, what about reimbursement for L&I  phone communications with employers, claim managers etc?  Any luck with that?

Some carriers will pay and some won't, research "telemedicine" I know Medicare will not cover it. I have a couple of mental health clients who have gotten paid for phone consults.
