Who is allowed to bill?
« on: October 11, 2011, 12:52:19 AM »
Medical Assistant (no license) sees patient and takes vitals and all necessary information.  Patient is there for a quick follow up check in visit.   Patient does not see the physician.  Medical Assistant bills for the visit under the supervision of the Physician reviewing the file.

In this scenario can I bill for the services provided by the medical assistant under the physicians supervision?

Your help would be greatly appreciated....

I think you can bill as like a nurse visit, 99211 was described as office or other outpatient visit for the evaluation and management of an established patient, that may not require the presence of a physician.  Usually, the presenting problem(s) are minimal.  Typically, 5 minutes are spent performing or supervising these services.

hope this helps
