Delay receiving NPI
« on: August 26, 2016, 01:15:24 AM »
Hi all,

Has anyone experienced a delay in receiving an NPI number for a provider? We submitted an application on 7/30/16 and it has been pending since. There has been no update and when we call the number for assistance there is no update to give. It has been way more than the 15 days noted as average completion time.

Thanks,

kristin

15 days? I haven't seen it done in less than 30-45 days, ever.

Usually when we do NPI applications online we get the NPI number issues within the hour.  Are you talking paper app?

If you did it online and it's taking this long it is usually because the name doesn't match what is on file with social security.  What do they say when you call?

If done online, it usually only takes about an hour to receive an email with the NPI.   Just did one a couple of weeks ago.

Online is usually same day, paper I've seen take about 30 days sometimes.
