Synovitis
« on: March 29, 2011, 02:43:52 PM »
I am wondering; if a surgeon just states in the diagnosis "synovitis" or "synovial hypertrophy of medial compartment" can I use ICD-9 code 719.2x (villonadular synovitis) for the correct joint involved or should I only be using ICD-9 code 727.00 for this kind of general synovitis despite what joint it is in?  Thanks!  ???

Check out this link:

If they just list "synovitis", I would just use 727.00.
