I am looking for anyone who is billing in Michigan?  I am in my 3rd month of marketing and no bite yet?  I have been networking quite a bit.  I need to get out and go door to door and let them see me face to face. I have done flyers and postcards.....

3 months is really not that long at all. You also want to follow-up with all your mailings. Again, 3 months really isn't long at all, I think the average new billing company should expect to market for a full year maybe even longer depending on their experience, education and their overall marketing plan.

What type of marketing techniques are you using?  Maybe we can give you some new ideas to try.  Linda is right though, 3 months in this business is not long.  Perserverance is the key.  You can go a long time with nothing, then suddenly have more bites than you can handle.

I am networking of course.  When people I know are going to the doctor I give them my Advertising materials.  I also have a working website.  My education is Associates Degree in Office Support centered around Medical Billing.  I have a Medical Billing Receptionist Certificate.  I am currently in my last year of Medical Facility Business Management.  So I have the education.  My godson is about to finish Dental school so he my source for new doctor entering the field who wants to cut cost.  This term in school I am taking Small business Course...it was working.  It is showing me some leads.

So do you ladies have anything else to add that I should be doing?

How about looking into joining your local business association?  I joined one in my area and have been introduced and exposed to key contacts I might not otherwise have crossed paths with.

I am sorrying I did join....Michigan Medical Billers.  I am going to the next meeting they have.  I also check their sites for jobs.  My current job is not in the Medical field it is in Accounting.....but all my past jobs were A/R or A/P and cash posting.  I feel that background will help me when I do land a job.  I have done Medicare Billing for an Hopsital.  I also have some contacts in school as far as teacher and students in the field.  I have also am networking with someone who is an accountant and trying to go on her own but she wants Doctors and her contact person is her sister who is a doctor and she recently asked for some of my advertising materials....so I believe that just one Doctor will get the ball rolling.

Face to Face does not guarantee you a larger chance of obtaining a provider. I just got one on the hook yesterday, and we go meet in person tomorrow to sign the contracts. He is just that type of provider, he still feels more comfortable meeting me. He loved my presentation that I gave him, and the fact that I am a DME & medical biller as well. Its not always quantity of networking, its quality. Unless a physician see's a problem with his billing, he may not be enticed to switch over to a billing service. Some providers are not on top of their revenue. They see money coming in, and just don't know.  There are a lot of providers that have been "burned" by the home biller, and they don't want to do it again.  Before I started my practice, I sent out surveys to providers to see what their needs were, and what their expectations for billers were. When I compiled that information for my area, I created a marketing tool to address the issues they were interested in.  This is the first thing you need to know, and that is your MARKET. You can't post a flyer for a "grand opening, 24hr bar" in a Quaker community.

I agree with Charlene, you can send a ton of flyers, brochures, and have a website but if they are of bad quality you won't see a payout. You have to be competitive in all areas of marketing.
