Title: accept assignment
Post by: rdmoore2003 on April 02, 2009, 08:26:02 AM
with the above mentioned question-with non-participating provider-checking yes to accept assignment, eob shows pt responsible for remaining balance, I can bill that to patient, right?   Each insurance company is different, for non participating providers.  if insurance says to check yes because if not payment sent to policyholder. is this correct?

You can bill the patient for the amount that the insurance indicates is patient responsibility.  Checking accepts assignment does not guarantee that payment will be sent to you, but for many carriers it does work that way.
