I was just looking at that one the other day!
One of the benefits I'm marketing with the re-opening of my billing service is diversity. I'm not going to even mention the software of choice I'll be using, I'll be marketing that I can provide services using the provider's existing service and offering the option of setup with mine. Diversity will be the key to my marketing this go around. Too many billing companies turn down clients because they think they have to get the client to submit total control over when in reality offering the provider FULL control w/out the hassles is a benefit! Most billing companies only know their software and that's my angle. I've worked on them all and by utilizing services such as this or gotomypc I can do what I do best and the office doesn't have to change anything!

I agree, flexibility is key. What you are doing is helping ease the providers concerns about giving up what he feels is total control!

Very good points Linda.  I agree too.  I've gone into many offices where you just need to get into their system to see what's going on and if you are too rigid, needing them to use your software, many will turn away.  It is hard for them to change small things, so giving up total control is too much.

I use both LogMeIn and GoToMyPC.  You have to set up gotomypc on the host computer before using it as well.  It also has two sing in's, one at the website and then one to access the host.  That password can only be set up at the host.

Unless GoToMyPC has changed in the past year the one thing you couldn't do was LOG On or OFF Windows on the host computer. The Host had to be on and booted/logged on. using LogMeIn I can log on, log off and even restart windows on the host computer. That was necessary for me since I wanted my OWN windows login to the host computer for audit trail purposes.

thanks for that tidbit. I would always have to leave my pc on at work to log in from home with gotomypc. I will look into logmein for comparison.

That I'm not sure of since I don't have that need.  I use the gotomypc only for me to connect to my office computer directly.  It is in a secure location that no one else has access to, and no one else ever uses it.  All other things we use to logmein.

And technically speaking this "could" be a compliance issue, others walking by the screen, other users accessing the computer, etc. that one feature with logmein.com was my deciding factor between the two. For my consulting clients I am working with, if I need something I usually will call them and let them know I am logging in, I have my own windows login for each client, again this is good for purposes of audit trail. After I am finished I am sure to "LOG OFF" their windows and then log off my remote session.
I also of course use it to access my pc when I need to work away from my office, that saves me from having to have data stored on a laptop or another computer which is yet another risk I've reduced.

Exactly, you have to make sure your are compliant.  My computer is not accessible by anyone while I'm not there so no one can 'walk by' or see what I'm doing.  But you definitely have to be careful!
