Medicare Billing

A One Billing:
Hello,

Do you have to register with Medicare as a Medical Billing Company before you start billing? Also does anyone know what state and national associates do we need to be affiliated with? I have been going over things that the providers might ask and I'm not sure about this question.

Michele:
Billing services do not register with Medicare.  But the providers that they bill for must notify Medicare who is doing their billing.  There are no requirements that billing services must be affiliated with any national organizations.  You should always check with your local and state laws to make sure that there are no requirements specific to your area.

PMRNC:
There are states that do require third party billing companies to register.
