Question
Thank you so much for your help. I appreciate it very much.
The occupational therapist finds it best to accompany a patient to the orthopedic office visit as follow up to better serve the treatment plan by knowing first hand the patient's status and discuss pt's condition with the specialist. The question is what CPT code can be used in this billing?
Naomi

Answer
Hi Naomi,
There is not a specific code for what your OT is doing. However, I would try using 99080, which is to report “special reports, more than the usual information conveyed in the usual medical communications or stand reporting form”. That is the only code that I see that comes close. I haven't billed that code before, but my guess would be that many companies will not cover it.
Thanks
Michele
