Multiple Provider IDs for the Same Facility

Hello everyone!  I am new to the Behavioral/SA billing world and have found your forum very informative and helpful.  I was wondering if it is common practice to have two different provider IDs when contracted with a payer like BCBS (one assigned for inpatient services and the other assigned for outpatient services) for a Rehab/SA Facility.  I have never seen 2 provider IDs before when the NPI, TIN, taxonomy, and location are all the same.  Thank you in advance for sharing your feedback.

It is not common, but not unheard of.  BCBS is separate for each state and has their own rules.

Thank you for your response Michelle.  This is the first time I encounter this and thought it was quite odd.
