patient stauts on UB04
« on: December 27, 2019, 07:00:26 PM »
Hello,

I have been changing the patient status according to what I find in the nurse patient discharge, like if a patient was brought in and discharged to law enforcement, then I change it to that, is this the correct way to do it? Our HIM ladies were told to always set as home, but I don't feel like this is correct, I very well may be wrong though. Thanks for any input!

The patient status code is not required by every insurance but you should put what is most accurate, unless an insurance carrier requires something specific.  So I believe you are correct in changing it if the patient is being discharged to someone other than the home.
