Telemed
(1/1)
stellerdobes:
My physician is wanting to start doing telemed services for his older patients during this COVID-19 mess.
Do I just use our regular em codes with a gt modifer
Kerry:
Don't forget POS 02. Not all insurance companies require the GT modifier. Some use 95. They are so similar. I don't know what the difference is unless this is a prior modifier and replaced with the GT. I believe Medicare just requires POS now and no modifier. It's a little confusing as to why private payors use GT and others 95. It all depends on the insurance company. You have to go to website or call.
stellerdobes:
if they they conduct the visit over phone only (elderly patient with no access to video capability) do we still charge the 99211-99215 codes
mimranbilling:
Medicare/MA plans requires GT Modifier and all commercial insurances requires 95 Modifier.
For telephone visit only you need to report 99441-99443. If insurances will find out you are billing regular E/M codes for only telephone service they can terminate your contract.
Michele:
GQ is for telephone sessions
95 is for video sessions
The GT modifier was eliminated when they implemented the 02 place of service.
We haven't billed any yet but will be this week so we will see how it goes!
Stay safe and healthy everyone.
