Worker's Comp

catooch:
Hi Michelle,

I don't see any reference to worker's comp on the forum.  Do you handle claims.  If so we're having trouble getting straight answers on how to submit electronically.  We have contacted Mdon-line(our clearinghouse) and they say we need a payor ID.  Do you have any insight to this situation.  Is there a website we could consult to get the answers we need?

Thanks, Cathy

PMRNC:
You will have to contact the WC Carrier to see what their payor id is and where claims are submitted. If using a clearinghouse also you might want to find out if they will drop the claim to paper for those that are not taking electronic claims.
WC is different in every state.

Michele:
Linda is right.  You need to contact the comp carrier.

If the comp companies are not accepting electronic claims then they won't have a payer number and the claims have to be submitted on paper.  Most of the comp carriers in NY are not set up yet to receive electronic claims.

I have never sent W/C claims electronically.  I have been working with these claims for over 3 years.

Michele:
Not many carriers accept them electronically yet, but in NY they are pushing it.
