Marketing tools for medical billing business

This question was sent to me as a private message but I'm sharing it so that others can comment and share.

"What is the best marketing tool for promoting your business or getting clients during this pandemic? I cannot just walk in the office and introduce myself because of COVID. "

Michele:
We have had several people ask us about medical billing businesses during COVID, whether it's a good time or not a good time to either start or grow your business.  Personally for us we have grown a great deal since COVID started.  Many businesses, including medical providers are struggling to find and keep medical staff.  Doctors are finding it necessary to outsource more than ever.  Doctors are busier than ever and need to make sure the money is coming in.  Coding and rules have changed and continue to change.  It's important that the biller(s) know how to bill for telehealth.  I could go on.

But how do you market?  Not really an option to cold call.  That's ok!  I hate cold calling anyway.   ;D  There are plenty of other ways to market. 

* With today's technology it's crucial to have a website, or use social media, or have an online presence of some sort.  Most providers are looking online.

* Also, if you already have clients, use them for referrals.  Tell them you are in a position to take on new business and wondered if they had any colleagues that are struggling with billing issues or staff.  Referrals are the best and easiest marketing tool. 

*  Of course you can do a mailing.  Results of mass mailings are usually low, but it still works. 

*  Consider specializing.  During this pandemic, most mental health providers have switched to telehealth.  Many have eliminated their office space which also eliminates their staff.  If they are doing the billing themselves they may be looking for help.  And mental health billing is a great specialty.

*  Advertise your expertise in telehealth billing.  For most providers, telehealth is new so they need someone that knows how to bill.

*  Search this forum for other great ideas.  Most of the marketing techniques pre-COVID are still good now.  Just not the cold calls.
