verifying NPI and Tax id #

Is there any way to verify the NPI and the tax id # with Medicare?

you can verify the NPI on the website. https://nppes.cms.hhs.gov/NPPES/Welcome.do

PMRNC:
That will verify the NPI but will not report problems if the NPI is not an IDENTICAL match that is because some providers will still reporting with SSN's so those are NOT going to show in the NPI registry.

Michele:
If you want to verify what Medicare has on file for the provider's NPI & tax ID you need to call the provider's Medicare carrier and ask.  They will verify what they have.

The NPI is 10 digits while the SSN is only 9, so it won't accept it on the NPI website as an accurate number
