POS code for Physical Therapy

Hi everyone,

i'm very new to this board and to this whole billing thing in general.  I was just wondering what other people use for the place of service code for a physical therapist.  Do you use 11 or 49?

POS is place of service.  Office is 11, home is 12

thank you.  what about 49 for clinic?  is that one ever used?

You only want to use 49 if the place the services are being performed in a facility that is credentialed as a clinic.  Otherwise, you may refer to it as a PT clinic, but if it is not set up that way with the insurance carriers, then you would just use 11 for office.
