Does laser resurfacing remove oil glands?

Certainly, laser resurfacing does not typically eliminate or kill oil glands. These are crucial, as sebaceous glands secrete sebum, which also keeps the outer layer secure. The procedure of this non-invasive technology is indeed the most impressive procedure. It targets the upper layers of the skin, which are called the epidermis and part of the dermis. It is observed that these layers get affected the most because of various skin conditions like acne, wrinkles, sunburn, pigmentation, or even lesions. Thankfully, laser resurfacing has evolved, which does not destroy the glands but improves their texture and tone.

However, certain types of laser treatments like - Fraxel laser resurfacing can be used to reverse the skin damage. It uses heat to cause micro injuries. Because of them, the skin starts reproducing collagen and renewing cells. Result? The skin texture and tone improve over days. For sure, laser technology can destroy enlarged oil glands if it’s the case of sebaceous hyperplasia on the nose and face. But particularly talking about laser resurfacing, it’s safe, effective, and causes minimal, non-persistent side effects, such as scarring, pigment changes, redness, or slight inflammation. Though some medical and aesthetic clinics offer laser treatment for fixing pore-related problems. But it does not remove all oil glands. Only localised issues are addressed with it. Quora

In a nutshell, traditional laser resurfacing is completely safe, especially for your oil glands. Its speciality lies in its ability to destroy enlarged oil glands and heal the skin within days.
