What’s Better for Angiomas: Laser or Cryotherapy?

Angiomas are also called 'cherry angiomas' or 'spider angiomas', which look like a dot or irregular cherry-red stain on your skin. With lasers, it can be permanently treated, but it depends on your skin, lesion size, and budget.

Laser therapy, like pulsed dye laser or Nd:YAG, is often used to precisely target blood vessels inside the angiomas. This treatment is damage-free, which means that it does not hurt the surrounding skin. That’s why it delivers better cosmetic results, less scarring, and faster healing. This non-invasive method shows excellent results for visible areas like the face. Many small angiomas get cleared in 1-2 sessions, and if they are deeper, one may need more sessions.

Cryotherapy is a freezing technique that involves liquid nitrogen. It is another effective option that does not make holes in the pocket, and it’s widely available. So, if you have smaller lesions, it works well. But it is also true that blistering, scabbing, and temporary skin discolouration may be there. Occasionally, you see less precise cosmetic outcomes. So, it’s often selected for body lesions rather than highly visible spots.

In a nutshell, Laser is the best if you want the treatment for aesthetic reasons, especially on the face. But cryotherapy is good for red angioma removal if you are looking for a budget-friendly option. It can deliver excellent results but is not free from risks like blistering, scabbing, etc. So, consult your skin specialist to get the best results.
