Dentistry as a specialty

(1/1)

rachel:
I have a question in regards to billing for dentistry, I have recently started my medical billing buz and thus far have targeted mental health, however, a drug rep I know, advised that dentistry would be a good target (from her experiance).  My question is, does anyone know if this is a "diffacult" area for billing?  Is there anything differant in regards to codes ect or is it in line w/ other areas for billing?  Any info in regards to this would be greatly appreciated.  I would like to specialize but do not want to get in over my head and screw up anybodies business....thanks!!!!

Michele:
General dentistry billing is completely different from medical billing.  It is done on different forms, and the codes are different.  It can be a good area to specialize in but it also requires dental software.  It can not be done on medical software.  I have done dental billing and it was not difficult to learn.

I agree with Michelle. It is VERY different but not extremely difficult. I have never done billing but I did do dental claims when I worked at the insurance company. I found it a little on the boring side..not much of a challenge maybe?
