finding out where the insurance payments are going electronic or mail?

Hi Michele;

My client asked me to find out for her where she has the insurance checks going to. She is new in Florida.
I just did her first batch of electronic billing.  How can I find this out for her.  apparently she doesn't know if the checks are coming electronically or by mail.

also, she is going to switch her tax id to an LLC company , right now her tax id # is under her name only.
she heard that medicare takes a while to make the  change from the old id # to the new one.  someone told her that medicare holds her payments for 18 months.    Is this true?

thanks Michele.

Michele:
You can call the insurance carrier and ask them how she is set up to receive payments.  That is probably the easiest.

If she wants to change her tax ID# she just needs to notify Medicare using either the 855B or the 855I, depending on how she is set up.  I've never heard of them holding payments for 18 months, unless the correct paperwork was not done properly.  But they don't hold it for 18 months, they hold it until paperwork is done.  Personally I have never had that kind of a problem.  If you do what your supposed to, and they are good about telling you what that is, then payments aren't held up.  A change like that usually takes about 6-8 weeks.
