I have a client that had a virus in his server and it completely destroyed everything. We are now rebuilding the entire system from scratch - no, he did not have an adequate back up system.
His office staff is working on reentering all the patient info, insurance, etc but I will be rebuilding all the outstanding billing, patient statements. As you can imagine, this is going to be a very time consuming, tedious process. The doctor is willing to pay for this extra work, but I am not sure how to bill him for this. I really want to be very fair and not overcharge him as he is a young doc with a new practice and I have a great working relationship with him and his wife. Normally, I just make my percentage of what is brought in a month, so obvioiusly this is above and beyond. Any suggestions on how to bill this out? Flat-rate or hourly? Our offices are in Indiana. Right now, I am thinking of either $15/hour or $500 flat fee - does that seem reasonable?
