Medisoft is a great option, it's very affordable and if you purchase the Send Claim software it's a little more upfront, but you are able to send your claims directly and avoid any clearinghouse fees, so it definately pays off in the longrun. There is no per claim charge with Send Claim and you can have as many providers/practices as you need. I am billing for a company that handles financing for several different doctors and facilities and Medisoft gives you the ability to maintain several different practices without purchasing additional software. The Send Claim company is very helpful in their support and were great in helping get the software set up in my old practice. The set up was run through Ecare/Nebo and didn't cost us anything outside of the initial software. The other nice thing about it is if you upgrade your Medisoft in the future, you don't have to upgrade your SendClaim.
If you're looking for something a little cheaper, I know our Medicare (IL) offers free software for billing out the claims electronically, so you might want to look into that, as well. In addition, if you have less than ten employees you are able to submit your claims on paper. I don't know how that works with a billing service but you might be able to submit your claims on paper for a while until you find the right clearinghouse/software.
Good Luck.
