This is an older article, but look how true it ended up.

Yep, it is true, though that article was written when outsourcing was REALLY booming!
I mostly think the offshore companies and unscrupulous vendors are the reason doctors were beginning to sour on outsourcing.. I think we are reclaiming our industry in many ways

1994, that was a good year! I agree, more providers are seeing that outsourcing is the way to go. But I still encounter ohhhhh so many that have a girl in the office that is killing them, but they don't have the *%$*%*$* to get rid of her!
Frustrating, but it's their loss, literally.

BALLS?
I have to say I have been VERY Lucky or Blessed.. All of my clients have always had great staff, I think I've only worked with one office staff that was uncooperative but that was in the beginning and they were just uneasy about maybe losing their jobs, once they settled down and realized I was lifting a load off them and freeing them up for other things in the office they were fine. I did have one client that I ALMOST signed but I backed out because his wife was fighting the transition from the very beginning and I knew she was going to be trouble.

I felt that way back in 2005 when I had a company come to the office looking for my provider to outsource. It was the first time I really heard about medical billing services.

Yeah, I get that. We have the same thing but we always try very hard to assure the person we are going to work together to maximize the offices receivables, etc, etc. After things settle in and they aren't nervous about their job, they relax.

Very true Michele, that's the first thing I do.. I make sure the OM or biller has their mind put to ease. I even let them know I'll make them look even better. I have no problem with the office manager getting the kudos, they are the one's to go in and work side by side with the doctors anyway so I always let them know I'm there to make them look even better
Too often I read new billers wanting to know how to get past the office manager and my advice.. DON'T!!

Good advice.
I tried that once with an office manager. She was very hostile to put it mildly. I said, "You're the office manager, if you work with us and we turn this around and start bringing in some money, you're going to look good."
She put her finger in my face and said "I aint the one that's gonna look good, and I don't care anyway it's not my problem, it's his (Dr) money!"
Unusual situation, turned out she was robbing him blind. We doubled his money in the first month. She didn't do ANY followup, didn't read electronic reports, didn't bill ANY inpatient or nursing home visits. She still works for him, we don't (by choice).

OH I totally agree... I will NOT take a husband and wife team where one of the spouses is the Office Manager or the biller.. That to me is a recipe for disaster! JMO.. I stay far away from those.

Amen to that. I had a husband ready to sign for me to do his DME billing, wife said no. I said blessing in disguise!!

In my case, both husband and wife were drs. Office manager was good friend of wife, husband hated her. Real bad combo!
