Claim Discounts
« on: October 21, 2009, 10:33:40 PM »
My providers gets these discount offers from OmniClaim or Multiplan etc and they offer to pay a ridiculouos discounted amount and in return will pay within 10 days.  My question is should my provider ignore these? Will he get paid more if he does not accept these offers?  What real benefit are these offers to my provider other then payment within in 10 days? Don't they have to pay anyway?

My provider does not want to accept them because they are HUGE discounts but he wants to make sure he is going to get paid though?  What will the outcome be if he ignores these offers?

Thanks!

Those are Third parties, what they do is provide a pool of various companies and they credential you in through them all you are doing is bypassing the middle man. If you don't par with one of the carriers claims will be paid or denied (if HMO) according to the terms of whatever policy the patient has. Myself, personal, I tell my clients I don't find these necessary and many times their fees are ridiculous and unwarranted.

We are Non-Par and get them often. There are some I will agree to accept, and others I wont, it can depend on the offer, and what the patient responsibility will be.

I almost always recommend saying no (not DME).  There are very few instances where I find them to be worth the time.

yes, because once you accept them you CAN'T balance bill the client for anything outside of their deductibles etc.
